Our team is currently seeking a motivated and technically skilled Radio Technician to support our continued growth and success.

Position Summary

The Radio Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of two-way radio and telecommunications systems in vehicles, buildings, and wireless network environments. This position supports RF Engineers, Project Managers, and customers by performing hands-on technical work involving voice and data communications equipment, RF systems, cabling infrastructure, and related technologies.

This is a field-based position requiring travel throughout the state and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism with clients and contractors.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, program, test, troubleshoot, and maintain two-way radio systems and related communications equipment.
  • Install mobile radios, antennas, vehicle repeaters, speakers, sirens, warning lights, mobile data terminals, vehicle consoles, pedestal brackets, and associated accessories in various vehicle types including emergency and public safety vehicles.
  • Run, pull, terminate, splice, and test communication and network cabling.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of voice and data telecommunications networks and RF communication systems.
  • Utilize RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, watt meters, and other diagnostic tools to verify performance and identify issues.
  • Perform basic network IP programming and connectivity configuration.
  • Read and interpret customer orders, installation diagrams, technical specifications, manuals, and engineering plans.
  • Document installations, configurations, cable routing, and system changes accurately.
  • Troubleshoot outages and equipment malfunctions; repair or escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and customers to complete projects efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain inventory, tools, materials, and supplies required for installations and service work.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with industry standards, codes, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and strong customer rapport while working at client sites.
  • Participate in ongoing training and technical development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of communication systems technologies and RF systems.
  • Experience with cabling, pulling, terminating, and splicing.
  • Basic knowledge of network/IP programming.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in telecommunications and vehicle installations.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Reliable work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent vocational training/certification.
  • 3+ years of telecommunications, radio installation, or RF-related experience.
  • Experience with public safety or emergency vehicle installations.
  • Experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and watt meters.
  • Knowledge of construction industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with in-vehicle repeaters and mobile communications systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent travel to customer and project sites throughout the state.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
  • May be required to work in loud, hot, cold, moist, dusty, or confined environments including tunnels and manholes.
  • Ability to climb ladders, crawl, bend, and work in tight spaces.
  • Regular lifting of equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and perform physical labor for extended periods.
